Artist Focus: Julia Freiseisen

Julia Freiseisen is an Austrian-born multidisciplinary artist based in Perth, Western Australia. Working primarily in oil painting and mixed media, her practice encompasses painting, sculpture and large-scale installation.

Raised in Austria, Julia developed an early interest in craft, architecture and visual culture. Her creative background spans tattooing, graphic design and interior design, experiences that have shaped her intuitive approach to composition, space and material.

Increasingly informed by existential questions, Julia’s current work explores perception, experience and our relationship with the world around us. Through colour, material and form, her paintings and sculptural works invite a closer consideration of how we see, experience and interpret our surroundings.
